Last night at our Powerful You! Women's Network meeting, one of our topics revolved around self-discipline and what motivates us to get things done and ultimately, succeed! We all shared great experiences, ideas, tips and our own personal successes. Giving it further thought, I was reminded about the one thing that I didn't mention and its value, it's all about the "WHY?"

I've always coached my clients into success when we step back and look at WHY they desire this particular success and what would their life look like and feel like if they succeeded at this particular desire...

Here are some of the questions for you to ponder when you ask yourself WHY?

Do you have a reason to succeed? Have you defined the reasons "WHY" you want to succeed? Do you live those reasons with every breath you take? Are you living a purposeful life? Do you take action daily based on your intent to achieve your dreams? Is life controlling you, or have you taken control of your life?

These questions can clearly identify for you if you are living your life with purpose and truly believe in your reasons "WHY" you want to succeed. Living with intent to succeed is a life that is driven, motivated, inspired and focused with every thought, action and behavior!

When you surround yourself with the reasons and you live with that intent daily, every day has meaning, purpose, and joy! When you keep the thoughts of those reasons foremost in your mind, you will naturally make choices that are aligned with your vision, your values, and your intent to succeed. When you are faced with obstacles and challenges, you can hold onto your "reasons to succeed" to pull you through and help you to strengthen your passion and vision for what you want to accomplish!

The only impediment to success is the lack of a reason for that success. Know your "WHY", connect with the reasons, keep that connection strong, and you will find your way to success regardless of the obstacles, insecurities, fear, and challenges you encounter.

When you have a reason; you own your life, you own your purpose and you have a stake in the outcome. When you have a reason, and live your life driven by your "WHY"; discipline, commitment, persistence, and creativity become the natural tools you use to accomplish your dreams.

The best motivation for success is to consistently keep yourself connected to the reasons "WHY" you want to succeed!!

Wishing you a Happy Journey into your Success!

Did I just hear you complain about…

Posted by on in Leadership

Last night Pete & I watched  ”New Girl”  definitely not a PG! family type of show, nevertheless it was funny and I did Laugh out Loud!

So there’s one male character who’s a wannabe and he tries to hook up with every girl who breathes! What I liked was how they bash him for his crude behavior and more so, how his guy roommates keep him accountable for it with what they’ve dubbed a “Dou... B..” Jar. Every time he makes a “DB” comment or displays “DB” behavior,  he has to pay up and contribute to the Jar!  For example, the “New Girl” was crying her eyes out over a breakup and he proceeds to take his shirt off to show off his pecks, I would imagine to take her mind off things…lol

I recently read a blog post on leadership and some quotes that reminded me about the infinite power we all have to be the best we can be! One of my favorite quotes is:

“We are responsible for what we are, and whatever we wish ourselves to be, we have the power to make ourselves.  If what we are now has been the result of our own past actions, it certainly follows that whatever we wish to be in future can be produced by our present actions; so we have to know how to act.”

In August of  2007 I wrote a blog post that I was reminded of  when I heard my Pastor’s sermon yesterday entitled ”Is Your Tank Full”  His message was one of enlightenment. He perfectly makes things real. He made us all realize that we have a choice to keep ” our tanks”  filled and more importantly, we get to choose what we fill our tanks with. Thank you Pastor Jay for that reminder!

Upon further reflection of my old post, I realized how much I have grown spiritually and how the same post would be somewhat different today.  When I wrote the original post in 2007,  I was full.  I was grateful,  I was aware and I was serene.  I was content and extremely satisfied with my life.  Today, I see my life the same way.  Yet, I realize it is so much better because  I know mind, body and soul, it is all possible because of the faith upon which it is grounded.

What is The Power of Coaching?

THE POWER OF COACHING

LifeCoaching1Imagine yourself stuck in a house of darkness with no light switch. This house is fully furnished with everything you need in life but you can’t see any of it. You know there are rooms with windows and doors and these rooms have all your furniture, clothes and personal belongings but in the darkness you can’t seem to find just what you need when you need it. Since you are familiar with the layout, every day you get up take a shower, get dressed and look in the mirror that you know is on the wall but because of the darkness you cannot really see yourself clearly. In fact the only thing you can see in the mirror is a blurry shadow of your silhouette but you can’t really see the details of who you are.  You go down to the kitchen make your breakfast and sit down at your table to eat, but you can’t really see what you’re eating. This darkness follows you day after day everywhere you go.  At times you feel frustrated because you know something is missing in your life but you just can’t pin point what it is. You have the desire to look in the mirror and really see yourself but the darkness is all you have ever known and that thought seems almost absurd.

light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel1In our darkest moments, we could never imagine ever having another happy day; can you relate to that?  It’s that feeling of the walls crashing in on you and all you can think of is how will I ever get past this, beyond this?

On such a day, my Coach, Fredi Baker said to me, “Elle, in the midst of all this, there is a gift.” I thought the woman lost her mind. I left the session feeling confused, angry, and very discouraged. How is it possible for me to see “a gift” in all this when I feel as though my heart has crashed, my life has lost its zeal…

What Is Your Life Purpose?

Posted by on in Uncategorized

I posted a quote yesterday about Life’s Purpose and read it to a group of women as I Co-Facilitated a Powerful You! meeting last night. Only to come home and find Sue Urda’s article (Co-Founder of Powerful You!) in the current newsletter, highlighting the same subject. Talk about purpose! Was it a coincidence or truly intended to be in my mailbox when I got home? I guess Sue and I were on the same path when she drafted the second edition of the Powerful You! newsletter, see below!

Determination

“Many years ago, but not so long ago, there were those who said, Well, you have three strikes against you: You’re black, you’re blind and you’re poor”, But God said to me, “I will make you rich in the spirit of inspiration, to inspire others as well as create music to encourage the world to a place of oneness and hope, and positively. I believed Him and not them.” ~ Stevie Wonder
